You can't use SVG's with the Cricut E2. It's a cartridge base machine unless you use Cricut Craft Room to buy Cricut files that are not in a SVG format. I am sorry. First off, don't be afraid of the machine.
The Pros. The Cricut Design Space is FREE (doesn't require a subscription) if you want to cut SVG files, import JPEG, PNG, GIF or BMP files and cut your system fonts. It's the first Cricut machine to natively work with SVG files. It's the only machine on the market that can cut and score at the same time.
Similarly, what software is compatible with Cricut Expression 2? The Cricut Expression was designed as a standalone machine that uses Cricut cartridges instead of CAD software. It used to be compatible with Cricut's Craft Room software but it's being discontinued in June 2018.

At one time, Cricut did manufacture a wireless adapter for the Expression 2 machine so that you could connect it to your computer wirelessly when using the Cricut Craft Room software. Cricut does not currently manufacture a wireless adapter for the Expression 2 machines.

Can you use a Cricut without a computer?
That little place where my cartridge is plugged in allows me to upload the cartridge to the new Cricut Design Space ONLINE software. The end. That's how you'll use cartridges with this machine. You WILL NOT be using this machine and your cartridges without a computer AND Internet connection.

Does sure cuts a lot work with Cricut Expression 2?
This comes with the caveat that Sure Cuts A Lot Version 2 only supports the Cricut Personal, Cricut Expression, Cricut Create and Cricut Cake machines. And you must have a compatible firmware version on your cutter.
