Eating dill during pregnancy?

Firstly, please no comments saying I'm overreacting, I know I'm paranoid about food during pregnancy lol but I would just rather be safe for my peace of mind. My question is, I bought some veggie dill dip today because I was craving it and I've had a little but decided to check and see if dill is safe right now. I first read a couple of articles saying dill is perfectly safe to eat in moderation during pregnancy and only unsafe to use in large doses for medicinal purposes but I also came across a couple of websites that said to just avoid it altogether during pregnancy, has anyone else heard or read anything about dill during pregnancy? I know many women love dill pickles during pregnancy so I just have a hard time believing it's unsafe.

You're fine. You'd probably have to eat a *** ton of it in one sitting to have any kind of adverse effect on the baby.

I've been eating homemade dill pickles (brined and soaking in dill) since I found out I was pregnant. We put fresh dill on our potatoes, it's fine.

@jenniferg,

That's what I figured but just thought I would check, thank you! I'm going to eat my veggies and dip without panicking now.

Ive eaten A LOT of dill. We usually mash it into potatoes a couple times a week 🤷‍♀️ It wasnt on the no-go list from my midwife so i think its fine.

The only things I'd pay attention to not eating is the ones on the list your midwife/ob should give you early on. Google says not to eat things like grapes (!?) so I've started to realise if I go down a rabbit hole on there all I'll be eating is crackers 🤣

@meljay96,

🤣 I've never eaten so many grapes! 🍇

I've never even heard of the dill one. I was addicted to pineapple first trimester and then googled it out of curiosity only to find a bunch of scary articles on it. I closed the browser and continued eating my pineapple 🍍 😐 sometimes too much information can do more harm than good

@George444,

and so can not enough! Most of the articles saying to stay away from pineapple never bother to mention that the studies showing pineapple causes uterine contractions showed that only when pineapple was applied directly to uterine tissue, and that it didn't happen when pineapple was eaten!

I've never heard of this dill thing and been eating it my whole pregnancy lol

@michelexo2020,

Honestly the thought didn't even occur to me that dill could be unsafe but I just like to double check most of what I eat to be safe and then saw some crazy articles but you can find an article saying don't eat this while pregnant for literally everything. Turns out it's okay just don't use it as medicine while pregnant lol

@Kat456,

you have to think to that women have been having babies since the beginning of time and only recently we had access to the internet. With that being said, I dont overreact on things like this. our babies will be just fine ❤
